Q + A

What exactly is a wedding weekend?

Our wedding weekend spans from Friday to Sunday at an intimate and meaningful location with our closest family and friends. It is our wish for our guests to mingle, connect as friends, and leave the event as a new family. Icebreaker activities on Friday night, letting loose with music and lawn games on Saturday, and a relaxed Sunday brunch and Cardigan hike are sure to foster the togetherness we are hoping for.

What is the venue address? Does it work with GPS?

774 Shem Valley Road, Alexandria, NH 03222. Despite being about 9 miles from the main roads (Routes 104 & 3A), we have found that Apple, Google, and Waze provide accurate directions to this address. We will place signage at intersections for main routes to the venue but strongly encourage you to print out to & from driving directions ahead of time as there is limited cell service in the area.

Will there be cell service & Wi-Fi?

Regardless of carrier, there is spotty/limited cell service at the lodge and surrounding roads. However, the AMC does provide Wi-Fi access on site.

Is there parking at the venue?

Yes, there is limited parking. Although the lodge will be reserved for our wedding, day hikers will still have access to the trails and parking area. Carpooling is encouraged when possible.

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Both - the ceremony will be held outdoors (weather depending), while the cocktail hour and dinner will be inside the lodge. Dancing will be outdoors on the covered deck. We are hoping you choose to spend most of the weekend outdoors exploring the grounds and enjoying nature.

Where to book accomodations?

No need - the entire lodge and bunkrooms are reserved for the wedding weekend. From the RSVP's, we will assign rooms based on familiar parties. Restrooms are shared - men's and women's each have multiple toilets, sinks, showers. Towels and bedding is included as well.

What is the dress code?

Casual and comfortable attire. We cannot predict the weather and encourage dressing in layers. Mid October in NH could be anywhere from cold and rainy to hot and sunny.

Are children allowed?

We love your children, but due to space restrictions and liabilities we cannot accommodate guests under age 21 at our wedding weekend.

Am I allowed to take photos and post on social media?

You are more than welcome to take photos, but please do not distract from the paid professional photographer. Our wedding hashtag is #loveatfirsthike101924 if you choose to share appropriate photos from the wedding weekend.

What type of food will be served?

All meals will be prepared by AMC and served buffet style, with the exception of Saturday lunch which will be a packed hiker lunch. Reception dinner will include appetizer stations. Coffee, tea, and water will be available during the day. Dietary restrictions can be taken into consideration.

Will there be alcohol?

Libations are BYOB. Please be responsible. We also ask to please refrain from glass containers.

What is the wedding day itinerary?

The ceremony will begin at 4:30p, with cocktail hour at 5p, dinner at 6p, followed by dancing, live music, and a campfire.

Will there be other events to attend during the wedding weekend?

Yes, there are numerous walking/hiking trails to explore around the lodge. There will be music, lawn games, & board games during the day on Saturday. You are also welcome to snuggle up with a book around the lodge. On Sunday after checkout, we will be hiking up to High Cabin and Cardigan Summit - any and all are welcome to join.

WHAT IS HIGH CABIN?
